After decommitting from Minnesota on Monday, Prior Lake defensive lineman Jide Abasiri has found a new home: the University of Southern California.

Abasiri visited USC over the weekend and 247Sports reported on Sunday that the Trojans were gaining momentum on the fourth-ranked recruit in Minnesota’s 2024 class.

He announced his commitment to USC Thursday on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Also finding a new home Thursday was former Gophers running back Zach Evans, who announced he was entering the transfer portal on Nov. 30. Evans, a Heath, Texas, native, is returning home to play for North Texas.

Evans saw little action during his two seasons at Minnesota, with injuries limiting him to six games in 2023.

Evans was the team’s fourth leading rusher behind Darius Taylor, Jordan Nubin and Sean Tyler, carrying the ball 52 times for 244 yards and one touchdown.
