Koi Perich visits Ohio State, but hasn't flipped Gophers commitment yet
Koi Perich, the top-ranked recruit in Minnesota’s 2024 class who verbally committed to the Gophers in April, visited Ohio State over the weekend but hasn’t switched his commitment yet.
But Ohio State recruiting analyst Matt Parker is predicting that the four-star safety will flip for the Buckeyes. After his visit to Columbus, Perich canceled an upcoming visit to Florida State.
“Florida State is canceled. Nothing is a done deal,” Perich said in a text message to the Star Tribune.
Perich, an Esko native who according to On3 is the No. 3 safety and No. 53 recruit in the nation, verbally committed to Minnesota before getting offers from the likes of Ohio State, Florida State and Southern Cal. He’s continued to take visits since.
On Monday, Prior Lake defensive lineman Jide Abasiri announced on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, that he has decommitted from the U.
Perich is also considered a top-100 senior in the country by recruiting service 247Sports, coming in at No. 85 overall.
If he winds up playing for the Gophers, he'll have a chance to be the next standout safety, following in the footsteps of the likes of Antoine Winfield Jr. and Tyler Nubin.
