Prior Lake defensive tackle Jide Abasiri decommits from Gophers

Southern Cal is reported to be gaining ground with the Prior Lake native.

Three-star defensive tackle Jide Abasiri, of Prior Lake, is decommitting from Minnesota's 2024 class, he announced on the social media platform X on Monday.

"After a long talk and consideration with my family I have decided to decommit from the University of Minnesota. Thank you to all the coaches at Minnesota for helping and believing (in) me," he posted.

On Sunday, 247Sports reported that Southern Cal was gaining momentum with Abasiri after he took an official visit over the weekend. Abasiri announced that he received an offer from USC on Nov. 19.

According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Abasiri is the fourth-ranked recruit in Minnesota in the graduating class of 2024. The top recruit in the state, Esko High School safety Koi Perich, has received offers from the likes of USC and Florida State since committing to Minnesota.
