Brody Lamb scored 3 minutes, 59 seconds into overtime to lift the ninth-ranked Gophers men’s hockey team to a 2-1 win over No. 4 Wisconsin Friday night in Madison, Wis.

Owen Lindmark scored the tying goal for Wisconsin (20-6-1, 11-14-0 Big Ten) with 1 minute, 25 seconds remaining in the third period. That was the only goal the Badgers could get past Gophers goalie Justen Close all night. Close finished with 41 saves on 42 shots.

Oliver Moore got the Gophers (16-7-4, 19-5-3) on the board first with a goal 12 minutes, 32 seconds into the first period. He also assisted on Lamb’s overtime winner.

“I love how hard we fought,” Gophers coach Bob Motzko said in a statement. “The compete level was extremely high. We got a win, but I’m critical of how we did. Our turnovers in the second period; we have to clean that up.”

The Gophers and Badgers will meet for the series finale at 7 p.m. Saturday back in Madison.
