Jurrangelo Cijntje Showcases Ambidextrous Pitching Against ULM
Jurrangelo Cijntje made his first big appearance Wednesday night at the Mississippi State baseball game where he was credited with the 14-3 win against the University of Louisiana Monroe.
The true freshman and switch-pitcher from Pembroke Pines, Florida started for the Bulldogs during Wednesday’s game and was able to strike out seven batters in four scoreless innings.
The 19-year-old displayed his ambidextrous talents by pitching 92 mph with his left arm and reaching 97 mph with his right in the final inning.
Cijntje allowed only one hit and one walk against the ULM War Hawks. Six of his strikeouts were thrown right-handed, but he switched it up to strike a ULM batter out in the third.
Cijntje had the opportunity to sign a professional contract with the Milwaukee Brewers after being drafted in the 18th round last summer. However, he decided to pursue a college career at Mississippi State instead. The Bulldogs are already reaping the benefits of Cijntje’s decision to play collegiate ball.
The Bulldogs will carry on with high hopes for their young season and gemstone of a pitcher on Friday as they take on Arizona State at Dudy Noble Field.
