Mississippi State Softball Assistant Heads to Baseball Game After Being Ejected
Mississippi State associate head softball coach Tyler Bratton had a game to get to on Saturday as the Lady Bulldogs took the field, but he ultimately and unexpectedly caught two -- one in his traditional role, and one as a fan.
Bratton was ejected from MSU's softball contest against Arkansas on Saturday when he got into an argument with the umpire that ended with him ripping first base up from the ground and throwing it to the outfield.
This happened after a Chloe Malau'ulu's two-run homer came back because the umpires determined Macy Graf left the base too early during the third inning. According to softball rules, a baserunner is required to stay on the base until the pitcher gets the ball off.
Bratton certainly did not let it put a damper on his night though, heading to Dudy Noble Field to catch the Bulldogs' second matchup of the weekend series against the No. 9-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks.
It ended in a 14-5 MSU loss on the heels of the Diamond Dawgs getting their first SEC victory of the season in a 13-3 triumph over the Gamecocks on Friday.
Bratton took to Twitter after he made his way there.
MSU softball will look to get its first win of the series against the Hogs on Sunday afternoon after falling 4-2 and 11-0 in the first two meetings.
