Mississippi State Men's Basketball To Participate In 2023 Hall-of-Fame Tip Off

The Bulldogs will face Washington State in the in-season tournament this upcoming season.

Mississippi State men's basketball will be a part of the 2023 Hall-of-Fame Tip Off at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, as part of their non-conference slate, a source tells Jon Rothstein via Twitter.

The Bulldogs are reportedly set to face Washington State in the first round of the in-season tournament. During the 2022-23 season, the Cougars finished with a 17-17 overall record, but had a 11-9 record in PAC-12 play, with its resume including a win over then No. 5 Arizona on the road.

The 2023 Hall-of-Fame Tip Off will also reportedly include Northwestern and Rhode Island as part of its field. Northwestern is coming off of an NCAA Tournament appearance led by head coach Chris Collins, who was awarded the 2023 Big Ten Coach of the Year. Meanwhile, Road Island will be entering its second season with head coach Archie Miller.

The Bulldogs will be lead by head coach Chris Jans, who is entering his second year with the program and recently signed a contract extension with the university, keeping him with the Bulldogs for the foreseeable future. In his debut season, Jans lead the Bulldogs to a 21-13 overall record, including a 8-10 record in SEC play, along with an appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Jans and his coaching staff are working hard on the recruiting trail this offseason, picking up commitments from West Virginia transfer Jimmy Bell Jr as well as Marshall transfer and All-Sun Belt guard Andrew Taylor. It will be interesting to see how the new roster will shape up before the new season begins.

A date a time for the Hall-of-Fame Tip Off have yet to be announced, but it could likely take place this fall around the Thanksgiving season.
