What to Know and How to Watch: Mississippi State Baseball vs. Alabama, Game 3

What to know and how to tune in as Missisisppi State baseball seeks its first conference series win of the season against Alabama.

Mississippi State baseball (18-14, 2-9) has the chance to win its first SEC series of the 2023 season, facing the Alabama Crimson Tide (23-9, 4-7) for the final matchup of the three on Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The Bulldogs won the first meeting, quickly gaining the momentum in one of their better displays of consistency this season, 12-8. But the second matchup on Friday told a much different story, as Alabama dominated MSU to a 11-1 run-rule victory.

It will be interesting to watch how things shake out as the Bulldogs look to hit what will be a significant milestone considering some of the historic lows the team has found itself in this year.

The Bulldogs have had a rough go in conference play, which opened with a series sweep by the Kentucky Wildcats in mid-March, followed by another sweep by the No. 4-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores.

Before Alabama, the most recent conference opponent MSU faced was the No. 9-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks. The Bulldogs fell 6-4 and 14-5 in two contests, respectively, getting their first SEC win of the season in the Game 2 with a 13-3 victory over seven innings.
