Another Bulldog Minute: Mississippi State Looks to Continue Streak against LSU

Mississippi State has won four straight in the SEC, but has a few tests remaining if it hopes to complete its strong finish.

Mississippi State is the winner of four straight and five of the last seven games in the SEC.

After a tough start, going 2-4 through the first six conference games, the Bulldogs seem to have righted the ship heading into the season's final few games, and more importantly, just ahead of postseason play.

State took down rival Ole Miss on Wednesday and returns home this weekend to the Hump to take on LSU.

The Tigers also came away from their mid week game with a big victory, defeating Kentucky 75-74.

Sitting in eighth place in the league, just behind Mississippi state, LSU and the Bulldogs are in very similar positions. While neither are likely to take the regular season title, a top four finish is still in play for both teams.

With a top four finish in the final conference standings, State or LSU could secure a bye in the first two rounds of the SEC Tournament, and in turn, an easier chance to earn an automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament.

Leading the Tigers backcourt is senior seven footer Will Baker and sophomore Jalen Reed. Baker leads the team in rebounds per game with just over five and Reed is the team leader in blocked shots with one per game.

As for the frontcourt, LSU's tandem of Jordan Wright and Jalen Cook combine for nearly 30 points per game and are also the team's two leading stealers.

Mississippi State will have to not only match up physically inside with the size of LSU, but find an answer for two excellent scorers.
