Mississippi State returns home and is looking to win the battle of the Bulldogs as they host Georgia as they look to get back on track in the SEC.

State will be without arguably their best on-ball defender in D.J. Jefferies who suffered an injury in their loss against No 16. Alabama. For the betterment of MSU, they are at home for this game where they perform significantly better than on the road. Georgia is also coming into this game on a three-game losing streak, so this is a great opportunity for MSU.

A great defensive possession from Jones Jr. leads to Hubbard getting fouled on a shot attempted. He makes both. MSU leads 2-0.

Great defense from Matthews but a better shot by Georgia's Thomasson. Georgia leads 3-2.

Great defense from Matthews that leads to Moore finding Smith for an alley oop layup. MSU leads 4-3.

Matthews finds Moore with a bounce pass and he rises up to finish at the rim. MSU leads 6-3.

MSU forces a turnover and Dashawn Davis finds Matthews for a fastbreak dunk. MSU leads 8-3. 

Keshawn Murphy has checked into the game, this is his first time seeing the floor since his injury.

Three are being traded back and forth. MSU leads 11-6.

Moore knocks down a three from a Smith pass. Cain for Georgia hits a floater on the other end. MSU leads 14-8.

Moore gets fouled and sent to the line. He splits them one of two. MSU leads 15-8.

Hubbard puts up a three and gets fouled. He hits all three. MSU leads 18-8. 

Demary Jr. gets fouled and splits his free throws. MSU leads 18-9.

Both teams trade baskets in the baskets in the paint. MSU leads 20-11. 

Great transition offense after great defense from State. MSU leads 22-11.

Great defense from Matthews again but Better offense from Thomasson on a three. MSU leads 22-14.

Georgia forces a turnover and gets a goaltending call for a basket. MSU leads 22-16.

Smith gets sent to the line and splits his free throws and Matthews grabs an offense rebound from the second miss. Smith gets sent back to the lien and splits them again. MSU leads 24-16. 

Georgia has started to heat up from behind the arch knocking down another three. MSU leads 24-19.

The goaltending call has been reversed. MSU leads 24-17.

Matthews gets sent to the line for a one and one. He makes both. MSU leads 26-17.

Hubbard hits a fading three. State forces a turnover and Jones Jr. finishes at the rim. MSU leads 31-17.

Cain hits a three for Georgia but Hubbard returns the favor at the other end with one of his own. MSU leads 34-20.

Great ball movement leads to a Georgia 3-pointer. MSU leads 34-23. 

Another 3-pointer for Georgia. MSU leads 34-26.

Smith tips in a missed three from Davis. MSU leads 36-26.

Denmary gets send to the free throw line and makes them both. MSU leads 36-28.

It has been a slow paced game for most of the half. Hubbard leads State in scoring with 11 and Thomasson leads both with 12.

Second Half

Matthews finds Smith under the basket for the first points for the half. MSU leads 38-28.

Georgia draws a foul on Smith and hits both free-throws. MSU leads 38-30.

Turnover for Hubbard leads to a transition bucket for Georgia. MSU leads 38-32.

Another bucket for Georgia as they are slowly cutting into the lead. MSU leads 38-34.

Matthews forces steal and gets can offensive rebound with a tip in for State. MSU leads 40-34.

Tchewa finds a spot on the floor for a jumper. Matthews gets fouled on a dunk on the other end. He completes the and one. MSU leads 43-36.

Murphy hits a one foot floater after getting his defender to jump. MSU leads 45-36.

Thomasson hits another three. His fifth for the game. MSU leads 45-39.

Jones Jr. gets a flagrant-one foul called on him. Georgia splits the free-throws. MSU leads 45-40. 

Davis hits a three in transition from a Moore pass. MSU leads 48-40.

Murphy is having an outstanding first game back hitting another three in the corner. Georgia return a three on the other end in retaliation. MSU leads 51-43. 

Matthews and a Georgia players get tangled up and starts to get chippy with each other by shoving one another. Both get technicals and the penalties offset.

Great ball movement from MSU that leads to a Moore three at the wing. MSU leads 54-43.

Smith gets loose after a spin and dunks the ball. MSU leads 56-43.

Georgia goes on a 8-0 run after back-to-back troubling offensive possession from MSU. MSU leads 56-51.

Georgia finds more ways to score however MSU ends its three minute scoring slump with two back-to-back 3-pointers in the corner. MSU leads 62-53.

Smith powers his way into the paint and with a soft touch finishes at the rim. Thomasson returns the favor by scoring points of his own.  MSU leads 64-55. 

Both teams trade baskets in the paint. MSU leads 66-57.

Another three for the Georgia to keep the game close in the closing stretches of the game. MSU leads 66-60.

Jones Jr gets fouled in his attempt to finish at the rim. He makes both his free throws. MSU leads 68-60.

State forces a turnover and Smith finishes at the rim while also drawing contact. He completes the and-one. MSU leads 71-60. 

State is now in the bonus as Georgia is intentionally fouling. Davis hits his free-throws. MSU leads 73-60. 

Smith finishes an alley oop at the rim from a Davis pass. MSU leads 75-60.

Final: Mississippi State 75, Georgia 62

Mississippi State had four players in double digit points. Tolu Smith III lead the team with 19 points. Josh Hubbard added 14 points, Shakel Moore had 11, and in his return Keshawn Murphy had 10. 

Georgia's Noah Thomasson finished with a game high of 20 points and knocked down six of his three pointers. He was the only productive Bulldog for Georgia as the team shot 35.1 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three.

The Bulldogs shot an impressive 16-19 from the free-throw line. This is one of their best nights at the line all season.
