Mississippi State Men's Basketball Lands Marshall Guard

Mississippi State's success in the transfer portal continues.

Mississippi State men's basketball grew stronger Saturday as the Bulldogs landed the commitment of Marshall standout guard Andrew Taylor, who chose MSU over the likes of Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida, Kentucky, Miami and several other prestigious programs.

The Bulldogs have had some significant success in the portal as of late, also adding former West Virginia forward Jimmy Bell this week.

Taylor finished out last season with no less than 10 points in 32 of the 33 games he saw action in for the Thundering Herd, ending 14 games with 20 points or more. He also reached new a career single-game high of 33 points in the 92-74 win over Coastal Carolina back in February.

The 6-foot-3, 194-pounder from Corbin, Kentucky was the only Marshall player to start every game of the 2021-22 season, averaging 14.2 points per contest. He was the team's leader in points (468) and assists (145), in addition to being a 73 percent free throw shooter.

He played four total seasons at Marshall, starting all 110 games of his college career, named to the C-USA All-Freshman team for the 2019-20 season when he averaged 10.1 points, 3.2 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.

He will have one year of eligibility remaining at MSU as he becomes the Bulldogs' 13th scholarship player for the upcoming season.
