Social Media Reacts to Mississippi State Men's Basketball Earning At-Large Bid in NCAA Tournament

Mississippi State men's basketball is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in several seasons.

Mississippi State men's basketball will take part in the 2023 NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2018-2019 season, entering the action as the No. 11 seed.

The Bulldogs will take the court in a play-in game set for Tuesday evening against the fellow No. 11-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers, with the winner of that contest having the opportunity to take on the No. 6-seeded Iowa State Cyclones on Friday in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The last time MSU made it to the NCAA Tournament, it came in as the No. 5 seed, ultimately bested in the first round by the No. 12-seeded Liberty Flames, 80-76 in a painfully close matchup. The Bulldogs currently hold an overall all-time record of 11-11 in the NCAA Tournament.

This marks new head coach Chris Jans' fourth time on the court in the NCAA Tournament after he led New Mexico State to the Big Dance on three different occasions. Needless to say, there was plenty of praise and reaction to the Bulldogs making it in at No. 11 when the news was announced.

Tip-off between the Bulldogs and the Panthers is currently set for 8:10 p.m. CT.
