Mississippi State's Chris Jans 'Excited' to Have Commit Dellquan Warren Next Season
Mississippi State basketball commit Dellquan Warren officially put the pen to paper on Wednesday during National Signing Day.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound guard out of Keystone Athletic Academy in Erie, Pa., is ranked as a consensus top-20 prospect for his position, per On3 Recruiting. Warren made his verbal commitment to the Bulldogs on Sept. 10, but head coach Chris Jans hadn't really spoken much about it.
However, after Wednesday night's season-opening victory over Arizona State, Jans listed a few reasons why he's looking forward to adding Warren to his team next season.
“We are excited that he's joined our family,” Jans said. “He is a high-energy kid that plays with a burst and has speed. I love the fact that he is a pass-first guy, but he can score the ball too. He is a lefty and I love lefty point guards and bigs."
On top of the assets that Jans listed, he revealed another major reason why he "can't wait" for Warren to arrive in Starkville, Miss.
"What really impressed me were his hands. He has quick hands and gets them on a lot of balls and has a high-compete level," Jans said. "We are excited he is joining us and can’t wait for next year for him to be with us.”
Warren was committed to Rutgers from Dec. 30, 2022, until he decommitted this past May. After reopening his recruitment, he received an offer from Mississippi State on Aug. 24. He went on to take an official visit on Sept. 7 and became a Bulldog three days later.
