STARKVILLE, Miss – The Mississippi State Bulldogs are coming off a disappointing appearance in the NCAA Tournament, but now with the season over, the transfer portal is open and MSU is taking a swing on a point guard from the Big 10.

From the depths of the Big 10 comes Kanye Clary. The 5’11 lefty sophomore guard was dismissed from the Penn State Nittany Lions last season for personal reasons. Before being dismissed, he was having a career year in comparison to his freshman year before going down with an injury and effectively ending his tenure with the Lions. He was the team's best offensive weapon, averaging 16.7 points a game while averaging close to three rebounds and assists a game including shooting 37.7 percent from 3-point range.

If you look at those stats, they are oddly similar to breakout star freshman Josh Hubbard who was the best offensive weapon for the Bulldogs all of last season. Now with Dashawn Davis leaving the program, the Bulldogs needed more guards and Clary can be an answer on the offensive side of the ball. He has a fast twitch that will allow him to get loose from any defender while also giving Hubbard breathing room so he can work as well.

This is another step in the right direction for Chris Jans as he is entering his third season as the head coach for the Mississippi State Men’s Basketball team. The team that he will try and craft will have more of his vision of what he wants out of personnel on the court. Clary is just the starting point and the Bulldogs will have more moves in the future that will show that the program is heading in the right direction.
