Another Bulldog Minute: Is this Will Rogers' Final Game for Mississippi State?

Bulldogs need to win or this will be the final time in maroon and white for senior quarterback Will Rogers.

For some time now, Will Rogers has been one of the better quarterbacks in the Southeastern Conference even though he's missed some gams, including a couple this season due to a shoulder injury. Many have been critical of his play in Starkville, and addition to his hearing it from fans there were even some rumblings for him to be benched for backup Mike Wright.

Now that he has returned, Rogers undoubtedly showed that he is the best person to run this Mississippi State Bulldogs offense, if not team, and the best person to give it a chance to win.

Rogers could arguably be the best quarterback that Mississippi State has had since Dak Prescott, and he has constantly broken records and continues rising on numerous all-time lists. In the Egg Bowl against No. 12 Ole Miss (9-2), he has the chance to move to second all-time in career passing yards, ahead of Drew Lock.

In last year’s Egg Bowl, Rogers was 27 of 39 passing for 239 yards in one of his better games of the season. He showed that he could match up well against another top SEC quarterback, Jaxson Dart, and again has the chance this year to outperform him.

A win will get Mississippi State a bowl game and keep the Bulldogs postseason streak of 13 years alive for another season. Even though 2023 hasn't gone to plan for many of the players, coaches, and faithful who watched along, any time State defeats Oxford there is always cause for celebration. Rogers will look to dominate the longtime rivals in his possible last game for the maroon and white.
