Senior Mississippi State quarterback Mike Wright was named to the SEC Community Service team this week, joining thirteen other athletes who have dedicated themselves to serving their communities, the University announced via press release Wednesday. 

Wright, who leads the team in community service hours with over 30 in just the last year, has participated in a wide variety of community engagement and outreach programs. He's volunteered with several local charity organizations, including Starkville Strong, Boys and Girls Club of Starkville, Habitat for Humanity, and more. 

The Fayetteville, Ga., native joined the program in 2023 following a three year stint at Vanderbilt, and appeared in twelve games this season. A 3-star recruit in the 2020 class, Wright was ranked by 247Sports as the 19th best dual-threat quarterback in the nation, and held offers from several power five programs, including Arkansas, Northwestern, Utah and more. 

While the former Commodore has seen limited success as a full-time starter throughout his career, the impending transfer of Will Rogers could open the door to another opportunity for Wright. He is already familiar with new head coach Jeff Lebby as he was recruited to play at UCF while Lebby was serving as offensive coordinator for the Knights.
