Dak Prescott Placed in Middle of CBS Sports NFL Quarterback Rankings
Quarterback Dak Prescott has had a rollercoaster career in the NFL.
Prescott has led the Dallas Cowboys to the playoffs in four of his seven years in the NFL. In 2020, he went down with a devastating ankle injury in week five that ended both his season and his team's playoff hopes.
Will Brinson of CBS Sports released a ranking of the top quarterbacks in the league. He divided his rankings into tiers, ranging from a top tier with the biggest stars to a bottom tier with brand new rookies.
Prescott is listed in tier four as a quarterback that can win but isn't likely to lead Dallas to a Super Bowl without major help.
Some names ahead of Prescott make little to no sense, as Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Fields are in the tier above him. Tagovailoa finally had his breakout year last season, but he still missed games due to injury and had wildly inconsistent play. His Dolphins lost in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs to the Bills.
Fields is the most shocking person ahead of Prescott. He has a 5-20 record as a starter and has recorded a dismal 24 touchdowns to 21 interceptions. The Bears have struggled to protect Fields, and he is young, but it is very premature to put him ahead of someone who has never had a record below .500 in a season when he starts.
Another name ahead of Prescott is Daniel Jones. Jones is a fellow NFC quarterback with the New York Giants, and he has a record of 1-5 against a Prescott-led Cowboys team.
Prescott will be looking to prove the doubters wrong when the NFL season begins in roughly two months.
