Dak Prescott Fails to Make Cam Newton's Questionable List

Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton listed off all of the quarterbacks he would be happy to play backup to.

Cam Newton made headlines when claiming there were not 32 NFL quarterbacks better than him earlier this year.

The former QB who has not played since 2021 has decided to be even more more specific now and has taken to listing off all of the quarterbacks he would be willing to serve as a backup to.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback did not make Newton's list.

Here are the names on Newton's list:

Deshaun Watson

Lamar Jackson

Justin Fields

Tua Tagovailoa

Malik Willis

C.J. Stroud

Bryce Young

Anthony Richardson

Jalen Hurts

Aaron Rodgers

Josh Allen

Sam Howell

Overall, the list is full of randoms and for lack of better terms, is just a little weird.

It seems to include young players, some of which Newton has ties too. It puts Washington's Sam Howell, a 2022 fifth-round pick, in the top 12 names. Along with Howell, Tennessee's Malik Willis is included and he's far from solidified as a long-term starter for anyone at this point.

Keeping Prescott off the list makes Cowboys fans think it actually puts Prescott in good company. Newton also neglects to mention that he would be happy to back up Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow, both of which are considered some of the league's top quarterbacks.

The whole list is a bit goofy coming from Newton, and he has made it clear that he hopes to play in 2023. It is left for those to wonder if what keeps teams from taking him seriously isn't his age, or his talent but rather the way he's conducting himself.

It will be interesting to see how the saga plays out as multiple teams look for new quarterbacks ahead of the 2023 season.
