Former Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott And Trevon Diggs Address Training Camp Trash Talk: 'Stay Out Of It'
After videos surfaced of Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs trash talking quaterback and teammate Dak Prescott during training camp, Diggs pushed back on speculation that there was bad blood between the two players.
One video was shared online Tuesday during a Cowboys training camp practice in Oxnard, California, where the former Mississippi State quarterback took a snap and then did not find an open receiver, so he ran out of the pocket towards the right side of the field.
That's where Diggs and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa stopped him. After the play ended, Prescott and Diggs exchanged words with each other, with Diggs stating a few expletives.
Following the release of the video, speculation quickly emerged regarding Prescott's and Diggs' relationship, but Diggs was quick to shut down any and all speculation surrounding the two.
“Stay out of [our] business,” Diggs said. “Stay out of it. People don’t need to worry about what we’ve got going on — our relationship, my relationship with my brother, or how we operate. At the end of the day, it’s our team and Dak is the leader of our team.”
“I feel like it makes practice fun, just coming out here and competing,” Diggs said. “At the end of the day, that’s my brother. I love Dak to death, There’s nothing behind it, it’s just competitiveness. It’s football. It’s just how we play. It’s just practice. That’s just what we do. We just talk trash here and there and keep it pushing.”
Prescott, when asked about the matter, also shut down any notions that there was bad blood between the two players, and partly blamed himself.
"I might honestly talk the most," Prescott said in a news conference this week. "I start a lot of it. [...] I open the door and make people feel comfortable."
Prescott, 30, is entering his eighth season as the Cowboys quarterback. A two-time Pro Bowler, he has been pretty consistent player for Dallas, though he led the NFL with 15 interceptions last season.
He looks to improve as Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy takes over play-calling duties on the offense.
