Former Mississippi State DL Chris Jones Reflects on Super Bowl LVII

Kansas City Chiefs DL Chris Jones shares his thoughts on the game and the team after winning Super Bowl LVII.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones recorded yet another solid performance in the team's 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, finishing out with three total tackles.

He shared his reflection about the team in a post-game press conference. He starts his reflection by sharing how coach Andy Reid has impacted the team.

"Coach Reid is legendary, not many coaches that is a player-coach in this league I can't- I'm just very fortunate, honestly. Heck of a guy, better person, and he makes us all look good."

Reid, easily one of the best coaches in the NFL is obviously loved and highly respected by his players. With two Super Bowl rings, his dedication to the tea and the game is a huge factor in the Chiefs' victory.

Many NFL fans doubted the Chiefs' chance of success this season throughout the West and AFC championships, but they pulled through strong enough to bring home the gold.

"We was like the second child throughout this whole process. So it's been very refreshing to hold up that trophy and put on this hat," said Jones.

After three years of being without a Super Bowl win, it was exhilarating for the players, the coaching staff, and the Kansas City fans to have this win.

During the first half, both teams fought hard to keep up and good defense, however the constant back and forth of scoring only kept the teams at square one when halftime approached.

"Well most importantly, I think the first half we had to stop shooting ourselves in the foot," Jones explained to the press.

It seemed as if every time the Chiefs scored, the Eagles found a way to catch back up and tie the game. The first half of the Super Bowl definitely left fans biting their nails and hoping that there would be an influx of points for either team in the second half.

Having the break at halftime was incredibly helpful to the team according to Jones.

"I felt like everybody was able to catch their breath," Jones said. "These types of games, with this type of atmosphere, the extra break was needed."

It was definitely a good thing for the team to have this break. However they still struggled to keep a clean game during the second half.

Calls, penalties, the tension between players grew, and with the end drawing near, everyone was ready to see a change of pace. However, the game stayed neck-and-neck until the end.

"I'm just a kid from Houston, Mississippi, coming out of Mississippi State," he said.

With two Super Bowl rings won, Jones and the Chiefs will be fighting even harder next season to strive for a third.
