Former Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott Returns to Starkville for Spring Game, Special Ceremony

The passing of the harness from live mascots Jak to Dak contributed to the exciting atmosphere of the game.

After eight years of live mascot Jak being a campus icon at Mississippi State sporting events, a new live mascot has officially made its way to Davis Wade.

During the Bulldogs' Spring Game, the team celebrated with a special ceremony to make the switch at the dawn of a new era in multiple senses.

Fans, families, and spirit squads filled the stadium as the harness was passed, and the scrimmage between the two teams was an excellent showcase for the next season.

Because of the name given to the new live mascot, it was only fitting for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott to attend the game and meet the mascot named after him. The Bulldog legend, alongside fellow alumni, helped bring excitement to the team and to the fans.

It's a convenient year to bring in a new mascot with a hist of new players between transfers and recruits and a coaching staff with a host of new names as the Bulldogs prepare to go in a new direction.

It will be interesting to see how things play out when the Bulldogs get back to the field this fall.
