Georgia Football Hires Former Mississippi State Strength Assistant
Former Mississippi State assistant strength and conditioning coach Markell Clark is headed to Athens to join the Georgia football program, as was announced on Sunday.
"Anyone who knows my story will know how much this means to me! Thank you to Scott Sinclair and Kirby Smart for the opportunity," Clark wrote on Twitter. "Been a long time coming, but I’m back HOME! Let’s go to work! Go Dawgs."
The move comes two weeks after Georgia hired KJ Florence to take the place of associate strength and conditioning coach Tersoo Uhaa, who left Georgia for Colorado, where he joins Deion Sanders.
The Georgia native Clark (Dacula, Georgia), played out his college football career at Appalachian State, where he served as a defensive lineman and accounted for 18 tackles with three for loss. Before eventually landing at MSU and most recently going on to UGA, Clark interned at Appalachian State for two years after his time on the field concluded and then he spent one year with the Arkansas State staff as a graduate assistant.
He now joins a strength staff with the likes of Lonnie Brown and Jordan Barber.
