Just A Bulldog Minute: What Is Next For Dak Prescott?

After another early playoff exit, what is next for the Cowboys quarterback?

Dak Prescott is the most polarizing player in the NFL, which comes with the territory of being the face of "America's Team." Prescott had another terrific regular season as the Haughton, Louisiana native, threw for 4,516 yards and a league-leading 36 touchdowns.

The Cowboys finished the regular season 12-5, and division champs, and seemingly were clicking on all cylinders going into the playoffs. However, the Cowboys and Prescott looked overwhelmed by the Packers, as Green Bay took a commanding 27-0 lead in the first half.

Prescott gifted the Packers seven points while trying to execute a two-minute drill right before halftime. The questions surrounding the eighth-year quarterback are questions the Cowboys have been facing for over 20 years. Will they ever get over the hump in the playoffs?

Prescott has shown he can play well against stiff competition in the regular season but seemingly always plays his worst game when the pressure is at its highest. Dallas has playmakers like CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons, and Tony Pollard, but like Prescott, they all disappear in the playoffs.

A breakup might be best for Prescott's future because the issue with the Cowboys goes beyond the field, as it has for years. Cowboy owner Jerry Jones creates a toxic environment with his persona and coaching hires, leading to a mentally weak culture.

Jones decided to keep head coach Mike McCarthy and is unlikely to make any significant offseason moves, so the Cowboys seem content to run it back. Prescott has undoubtedly been an issue for the Cowboys, but his best move will be to get out of a toxic and under-performing organization.
