Mississippi State's Mike Leach hasn't talked to Kylin Hill, but says he heard he's opting out

Leach has said Hill has been unavailable in recent weeks

While officially, Mississippi State running back Kylin Hill appears to still be with the Bulldogs, it certainly looks as though his days in MSU maroon and white might be over after State head coach Mike Leach's comments Wednesday on the Southeastern Conference coaches teleconference.

Leach was asked for an update on Hill, who missed the October 17 game against Texas A&M due to an unspecified reason and has been deemed unavailable in recent weeks.

"I don't (have an update)," Leach said. "I haven't talked to Kylin. What I heard is that he's opting out, preparing for the NFL."

That Leach hasn't been in communication with Hill seems telling. As of midday Wednesday, Hill is still listed on the online Mississippi State roster, but that status seems very much up in the air given Leach's comments, as well as multiple reports that surfaced on Tuesday that Hill is expected to opt out.

However, Hill himself hasn't said as much. In fact on Tuesday, Hill tweeted – then deleted – a post that seemed to refute reports he was leaving.

“Dang I left the team? Thats news for me also," Hill posted.

Hill posted a similar message to Instagram.

"Man I never knew I left..it's game week," the post read.

However Leach's words seemed pretty conclusive on Wednesday. It looks as though Hill isn't in Leach's plans moving forward.

"We wish (Hill) the best," Leach said. "We're going to kind of focus on the guys that are on the team."
