Zach Arnett Updates Injury Status Of Will Rogers, Multiple Other Mississippi State Players

Mississippi State head Coach Zach Arnett provided a small update on quarterback Will Rogers and other Bulldogs on his SEC teleconference.

The open date comes at a good time for Mississippi State football as the Bulldogs are banged up with injuries to quarterback Will Rogers and others after the 41-28 win over the Western Michigan Broncos.

Bulldogs head Coach Zach Arnett provided some small updates on the status of Rogers and some of the rest of the roster, though they were non-specific, during the SEC teleconference Wednesday.

He described Rogers, running back Jo'quavious Marks, wide receiver Justin Robinson, defensive lineman De'Monte Russell and running back Jeffery Pittman as being evaluated day-to-day, but did not expound much upon that.

“The guys are doing good," Arnett said. "Same thing for our entire roster."

“We’ve played six straight games, we’ve got a lot of guys that have nicks, bumps, and bruises. We’re getting rested and recuperating and we’ll evaluate them on a daily bases. That will go into next week before we determine anyone’s availability.”

Arnett did indicate that he is expecting to make Chris Parson available for the remainder of the season, though, as he will also do with Mike Wright, who has served as Rogers' backup to this point.

Rogers suffered an apparent left shoulder injury during the fourth quarter of Saturday's win over WMU, which sidelined him for the rest of the game. He came out of the locker room without a helmet or shoulder pads on.

Marks was injured in the second quarter of the same contest, making his way back to the sideline with a walking boot. He's been one of the most important parts of the MSU offense in the 2023 season, also one of the SEC's top rushers with 458 total yards on the ground.

Arnett says he believes Ferrie kind of got rolled up on" but that "we have every reason to believe he’ll be fine.”

MSU returns to action after the open date with a contest against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. CT in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
