Mississippi State Football LB Arrested on Suspicion of Driving Under the Influence
According to the Oktibbeha County Sherriff's Office, Mississippi State linebacker Nathaniel Watson was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
This marks Watson's second arrest after signing with Mississippi State in 2018.
His first arrest was in 2018 when Watson was charged with felony assault and a few other traffic violations after a street racing incident. This incident occurred shortly after Watson sent his national letter of intent as a three-star prospect out of Maplesville High School in Alabama.
Head coach Zach Arnett offered a short statement on the incident.
"We are aware of the matter and are continuing to gather information," he said. "We do not have any further comment at this time."
Currently the Southeastern Conference's second-leading tackler, Watson broke into the starting lineup in 2021 after three years of being on the team. In 2022, he appeared in all 13 games with 12 starts.
He totaled 113 tackles, six sacks, 12 tackles for losses, one interception, and one pass breakup.
Watson is set to play his sixth and final year of eligibility at MSU.
