Mississippi State Loses In-State CB Commitment For Class Of 2024

Mississippi State lost an in-state cornerback commitment Sunday.

Three-star 2024 cornerback prospect PJ Woodland announced on Sunday that he will no longer be committed to playing for Mississippi State after he finishes his high school career at Oak Grove.

After his previous announcement in June to continue his career with the Bulldogs, this reconsideration took away one player from head coach Zach Arnett's 2024 recruiting class.

Woodland also holds offers from Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Florida State, Tennessee, and Texas, among others. When he committed to MSU, Woodland was the No. 17 player in Mississippi, and according to the 247Sports Composite, the 527th best player nationally.

"As you all know, I have been committed to Mississippi State since June 2023, and it was my full intention to play in front of you all at Davis Wade Stadium," Woodland said via social media. "Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am reopening my recruitment."

Although the Bulldogs face this loss, they still have 15 players in their 2024 recruiting class committed. Among these players is four-star lineman Jimothy Lewis and four-star wide receiver JJ Harrell.

Woodland has not announced where he will commit to since removing his intention to play at Mississippi State, however, this three-star prospect is ranked 39th cornerback and will have the opportunity to continue his football career elsewhere.
