Mississippi State Picks Up Commit From In-State Cornerback
Mississippi State football hit a string of commitments from highly-touted recruits this week, including the addition of four-star Class of 2024 cornerback PJ Woodland.
The Hattiesburg, Mississippi native, who included MSU and LSU in his very final cut, is listed as the No. 14 overall prospect in the Class of 2024 for the state of Mississippi, the No. 34 overall athlete and the 406 nationally ranked prospect overall.
MSU head coach Zach Arnett has made recruiting Mississippi kids his top priority. With Woodland, it gives the Bulldogs 11 commits, with five of those being in-state kids.
The 6-foot, 165-pound corner visited Starkville on Sunday with his family and some teammates. Shortly after, he announced he would make his decision via Twitter.
"I committed to State because it just felt like home," Woodland told Rivals.com in a recent interview. "State was my first offer and ever since then, they’ve showed so much hospitality.”
Arnett continues to impress by getting one of the top players in Mississippi to commit, while also making connections for future prospects to come through a talent-rich program at Oak Grove.
It will be interesting to watch how prospects like Woodland produce in the coming years.
