How Mississippi State Safety Shawn Preston Jr.'s Ejection Will Affect Him In Week 4

Mississippi State safety Shawn Preston Jr. will miss time in the Week 4 matchup against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

After a hard hit to LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels in the second half, safety Shawn Preston Jr. was ejected from the game. Along with a landslide of a scoreboard, this instance added to the perfect storm of defeat for the Bulldogs.

The ejection called that Preston would have to sit out of the first half of next week's game against South Carolina. After the game ended, head coach Zach Arnett discussed how he felt about the call.

"I have no thoughts on it. I know there's now an appeal process right so you can you reset in the clip and they re-look at it and I believe they determine if it looks like there was malicious intent. I think it's just the reality of the way the game was officiated." said Arnett. "And now it's happening in every game. And so we'll send the clip and they'll determine whether whether Shawn had malicious intent in it. I know determine his fate for the first half but if he's out next man up I mean, that's just that's how it goes."

"But we'll let the officials in the conference office handle all that stuff I have. I have no opinion on that. Because it gets it gets officiated the same against the other team as it does against us. So it seems to me like it's a level playing field.

Preston's appeal was ultimately denied, as was announced by Arnett during the week.

"Shawn got the email this morning, the appeal was denied, so he’ll have to sit the first half."

MSU and South Carolina are set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT in Williams-Brice Stadium.
