How to Watch: Mizzou Basketball at No. 2 Kansas

The Hy-Vee Hoops Border Showdown returns to Lawrence, Kansas, with the Tigers taking on the No. 2 Jayhawks.

Here's how well Mizzou basketball and Kansas get along: They can't even agree how many times they've played. 

Missouri says that they've  met 269 prior times on the basketball court, making the series the 10th-most played in the NCAA record book. Overall, Kansas holds a 174-95 advantage over the Tigers since the schools first met in 1907. after Mizzou left the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference in 2012, the rivals renewed the series in 2021 with Kansas earning a victory the last two seasons.

Kansas claims that this will be the 272nd meeting, and that the Jayhawks lead the overall series 176-95, which includes a 95-67 win last season in Mizzou Arena. 

Either way, the Border Showdown hasn't gone Mizzou's way for a while. The Jayhawks have won four straight and nine of the last 10 meetings. The Tigers have also lost 14 games at Allen Fieldhouse. It hasn't notched a win at Kansas since a 71-63 victory in 1999.

• Kansas is 8-1 and has a four-game winning streak. The Jayhawks are currently ranked second in the AP poll and third in the coaches poll. Hunter Dickinson leads Kansas with 20.1 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, while Kevin McCullar is right behind him in scored at 19.2 point.s Dajuan Harris Jr. has a team-best 7.2 assists. The Jayhawks average 80.7 points on offense, with a scoring defense of 65.2.

• Mizzou is also riding a four-game winning streak, with impressive road wins at Minnesota and Pitt. Coming off a 82-72 win against Wichita State, Missouri averages 75.4 points per game with a plus-8.2 scoring margin. The Tigers also average 34.1 rebounds, 9.7 3-pointers made, 14.6 assists, 9.3 steals and 6.7 blocked shots per game. The 6.7 blocked shots rank sixth in the nation. Graduate guard Sean East II leads the scoring at 16.8 points per game. He also leads the team with 31 assists and has made 13 threes this season. Graduate guard Noah Carter is next in scoring at 12.6 points per game. He leads the team with 6.7 rebounds and is second on the team with 13 blocked shots.
