How to Watch: Mizzou Men's Basketball at Texas A&M
One team is still looking for its first SEC win of the season.
The other is seeks to get above .500 in league play for the first time this season.
It'll be another prime example of just how tough the league has became when Missouri basketball hosts Texas A&M on Wednesday evening, and despite their places in the standings will be shown on national television.
Who: Texas A&M (13-8, 4-4) at Missouri Tigers (8-14, 0-9 SEC)
When: 8 p.m. CT Wednesday
Where: Mizzou Arena
TV: ESPN2 with Tom Hart (play-by-play) and Dane Bradshaw (analyst).
The schedule: If you go by current standings, Mizzou may not a better opportunity to secure its first SEC win this season than this week. The Tigers are No. 136 in the NCAA NET rankings while Texas A&M is No. 50. Saturday, Missouri will host Mississippi State on Saturday, and the Bulldogs are No. 44, but 0-6 on the road. There will be a couple of opponents with lower rankings, but it'll visit No. 61 Ole Miss and No. 131 Arkansas before getting another shot at the Rebels at home.
Last meeting: Texas A&M beat the Tigers, 63-57, at Reed Arena on Jan. 23.
About the Tigers: Missouri dropped its most recent game at Vanderbilt, 68-61, with Noah Carter scoring a game-high 20 points. Graduate guard Sean East II leads the Tigers with 15.6 points and 4.1 assists per game. Three others average double figures in scoring, Tamar Bates (13.9), Carter (12.0) and Nick Honor (10.3). Carter also leads all active Mizzou players with 5.1 rebounds per game.
About the Aggies: Texas A&M is the SEC's worst shooting team this season (.391) and in league play (.346). However, the Aggies lead the league in free throws made (17.6) and FTA (26.4) in SEC play, so a big key will be to keep them off the line. Seven of their eight SEC games played have been tied or a one-possession game in the last four minutes of regulation. ... Texas A&M is Texas A&M is 10-1 in games when guard Tyrece Radford scores 20 or more points 18-5 when he scores 15 or more. The Aggies are undefeated (4-0) when he scores 25 or more. He's averaging 13.8 points after getting off to a slow start due to an ankle injury. Wade Taylor IV leads the team at 19.8 points. .. Senior forward Henry Coleman III, who is averaging 10.4 points, hasn't been the same since taking an elbow to his upper body against Kentucky on Jan. 13. Had had scored in double figures in eight of 14 games beforehand, but has done it just once since then. The opponent? You guessed it, Missouri.
