The Missouri Tigers men's basketball team received some unfortunate news just before its highly anticipated matchup against No. 2 Kansas, as guard Caleb Grill will miss 5-7 weeks with a wrist injury, starting with this evening's game.

“Unfortunately, Caleb suffered an injury to his wrist on his non-shooting hand Sunday after a hard fall,” Whitten Family Men’s Basketball Head Coach Dennis Gates said. “I’m happy to report that he had a successful surgery earlier this week and is on track for a five-to-seven-week recovery with a chance of returning sooner. As a key piece of our team this season, Caleb will certainly be missed but we look forward to him making a full recovery and contributing to our success during the second half of the season.”

The Iowa State transfer started in five of nine games played this season and has been a key piece to Missouri's 7-2 record, which includes a current four-game win streak. Averaging 22.2 minutes per contest, Grill ranks fourth on the team with 8.4 points, second with 5.8 rebounds and third with 1.1 steals per game.

Grill's tallied double-digit points in four games this season, including a season-high 15 points in two of them. That said, an argument could be made that his best outing was in his final game before the injury against Wichita State, as he recorded 13 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and behind the arc, 10 rebounds, an assist and a steal.

The Tigers' first game without Grill starts at 4:15 p.m. CT on ESPN.
