Missouri's Leading Scorer Sean East II Out for Texas A&M Game
Missouri men's basketball guard Sean East II will miss Wednesday night's game versus Texas A&M with a knee contusion suffered against Vanderbilt. He is day-to-day following tonight’s contest.
The Tigers have lost all nine of their first SEC contests, but East has been one of the few bright lights to Mizzou's tough start. In 22 total games this season, East leads the Tigers with 15.6 points and 4.1 assists per game – shooting 51.6 percent from the field and 46.6 percent from 3-point range.
As the Tigers approach the second half of SEC play this season, they are aiming to escape the bottom of the conference starting against the Aggies on Wednesday night.
Many of the Tigers' SEC games have had 2-3 of the same names filling the scoreboard and stat sheet with one of them being East. Fellow guard Tamar Bates has also put up good numbers on a nightly basis, but Missouri will need someone a couple more players to step up in East's absence.
Mizzou has its back against the wall for other reasons as well, starting with the fact that if Texas A&M wins, the Aggies will complete the season sweep. The Tigers went to College Station, Texas, on Jan. 23 and lost 63-57. It is currently the Tigers' second-lowest scoring total this season.
That game, East scored a team-high 17 points on 6-of-11 from the field, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc. He also dished out a team-high five assists and logged a steal. Bates was the only other Tiger to score in the double-digits as he totaled 16 points.
As previously stated, East is day-to-day with Missouri's next game at home against Mississippi State on Feb. 10. Hopefully, he'll be ready to go by then, but the Tigers will need someone to step up tonight against Texas A&M.
