4-Star QB Matt Zollers Commits to Missouri, First Commitment of 2025 Class

The Pennsylvania native selected the Tigers in his high school press room on April 4.

The Tigers landed the commitment of 4-star quarterback Matt Zollers from Royersford, PA on April 4. This marks the first commitment of the class of 2025 for Missouri football.

Zollers decided between Georgia, Penn State and Pittsburgh. It seemed as if Georgia, as well as Missouri, had risen to the top by the end of his recruitment. Zollers has a brother who is a walk-on for the Pitt Panthers, freshman defensive end Zach Zollers.

The Panthers have a commitment at the quarterback position already in 3-star Mason Heintschel, as does Penn State with Bekkem Kritza. The Bulldogs, as well as Missouri, were the two schools in his list of finalists that were without a commitment at the quarterback position.

Being able to pull an in-state prospect away from Penn State and Pitt is a good sign for the Tigers. Pennsylvania is not an area commonly recruited in by the Tigers, so to pull away with Zollers was not only surprising, but impressive.

Zollers ranks as the No. 78 composite player in the country, as well as the No. 8 quarterback and No. 2 player in the state of Pennsylvania, behind Ohio State commit Zahir Mathis. He is also the No. 17 player in the country in On3's rankings and the third best quarterback.

Being the first commitment of the class, the Tigers now sit at No. 62 in team rankings.

The addition of Zollers could start a domino effect with others, as the Tigers have been busy scheduling visits and extending offers. Names like Dillon Alfred, Corey Simms, Dante McClellan and Daeden Hopkins could be soon to commit next.
