Missouri Defensive Lineman Named to SEC Community Service Team
College athletes have the tough task of performing well in the classroom and their respective sports on a daily basis. Many also go above and beyond in the community by using their platform to help those in need.
The Missouri Tigers football team has collectively supported the locals in Columbia, Mo. throughout the season, but the SEC has named defensive lineman Darius Robinson a member of the conference's 2023 Football Community Service Team.
The Tigers' sacks and tackles for loss leader has tallied over 70 hours of community service, yet his heavy impact off the field seems like he's done far more.
Robinson recently started the Helping Hands Foundation and held a back-to-school drive providing children with backpacks, supplies, snacks and haircuts.
The graduate student was also a mentor at Cedar Ridge Elementary School and volunteered at several other organizations including Playing 4 Hope, MU Children's Hospital, UCP Heartland, Fun City Youth Academy, Mizzou Athletics Kids Camps, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation and many more.
In addition to joining the prestigious SEC Football Community Service Team, Robinson was also nominated for the American Football Coaches Association's (AFCA) Good Works Team.
Robinson took to X, formerly known as Twitter to express his gratitude.
"Beyond thankful for this opportunity!" Robinson wrote.
