Sophomore defensive tackle Sterling Webb joined the Missouri Tigers 2024 roster on Sunday.

Webb entered the transfer portal from the New Mexico State Aggies after their former coach stepped down on Dec. 23.

Webb, a St. Louis native, was a 2-star recruit coming out of high school. He stands at 6-2, 295 pounds. Webb is the No. 729 ranked transfer in the country according to On3.

The former Aggie recorded 30 total tackles in the previous season, as well as 4.5 sacks and six tackles for loss. In his freshman season, he totaled 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks to go along with two forced fumbles.

Webb marked the eighth transfer for the Tigers and the sixth on the defensive side of the ball. He joins former Florida Gator Chris McClellan as the second defensive tackle transfer into Missouri.

The Tigers suffered losses at the position, with seniors Realus George Jr. and Jayden Jernigan declaring for the NFL draft at the position. Names like Kristian Williams and freshman Marquis Gracial could see playing time next season along with the transfers.

Webb will have at least two years of eligibility and have a chance to make an immediate impact.

With the chance of more departures on the defense after the loss of former defensive coordinator Blake Baker, the opportunity for more additions on the defensive side of the ball could increase.

Names like Michigan State defensive lineman Zion Young and Alabama freshman Isaiah Hastings could be guys to look out for. More players will enter the portal as there are coaching changes and spring practices, which will throw more names into the realm of possibilities.
