Missouri Tigers Grab Top Transfer Portal Cornerback
The Tigers picked up their first transfer of the 2024 transfer portal cycle, and it feels like a large need. Freshman cornerback Toriano Pride Jr. committed to head coach Eli Drinkwitz on Dec. 6, departing the Clemson Tigers.
Pride was a composite 4-star recruit from East St. Louis high school in 2022. In his first season with Clemson, the true freshman racked up 22 total tackles, four pass deflections, a sack and an interception. His production decreased this season, only tallying 14 tackles.
The newest Tiger shared the news on both Twitter and on Wednesday night. He posted a photo of himself in a photoshopped Missouri uniform.
Pride joins a potentially bare cornerback room next season, with the likes of Kris Abrams-Draine and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. departing the program to pursue professional hopes. The loss of these two key pieces paves a path for Pride to make an immediate impact.
According to On3 transfer portal rankings, Pride is the No. 17 ranked transfer and the top ranked corner in the country. As a high school recruit, Pride ranked No. 80 nationally in composite rankings, as well as No. 8 for his position.
Pride kicks off the first of potentially many incoming transfers for Missouri, though it is still early in the portal cycle.
Missouri is linked to other transfers as well. According to On3 predictions, the Tigers sit in second position for Arkansas defensive tackle Taurean Carter, as well as Duke defensive tackle Aeneas Peebles.
