The No. 13 Missouri Tigers softball team is on a four-game winning streak after it swept the Big Red Invitational, defeating the Wichita State Shockers 8-2 and the Nebraska Huskers 5-1 on Sunday afternoon.

In Game 1, the Tigers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning with big hits from Alex Honnod, who hit a two-run home run and Katie Chester, who hit an RBI double.

The bats went cold from second to fifth inning as the Tigers recorded only two hits in that span, however heated up in the sixth and seventh scoring five runs, batted in by Chester, Julia Crenshaw and Kara Daly.

Marissa McCann started in the circle for Missouri. During her 4.1 innings pitched, McCann allowed three hits, earned one run, struck out three batters, and was credited the win, putting her record at 2-0 on the year. Cierra Harrison pitched the remainder of the game in relief and allowed one hit, earned one run, struck out three, and was credited the save. Both pitchers gave up a home run.

In Game 2, The Tigers jumped in front 2-0 in the second inning from an RBI single by Chester and a sacrifice fly from Jenna Laird. The Huskers cut their deficit in half with an RBI double by Brooke Andrews in the third inning, but that was the only run Nebraska could bring in. Missouri tacked on three additional runs late in the game, RBI doubles by Madison Walker and Kayley Lenger in the sixth and an RBI single by Walker in the seventh.

Laurin Krings started in the circle and pitched a complete game. In the outing, Krings allowed five hits, earned one run, walked two batters and struck out four. With the win, her record on the season improves to 7-2.
