The No. 13 Missouri Tigers softball team swept its Saturday slate of games, run ruling the Wichita State Shockers 13-3 and defeating the Nebraska Huskers 10-6 in Day 1 of the Big Red Invitational.

In Game 1, small ball and capitalizing off errors is what pushed the Tigers past the Shockers. As a whole, the Tigers had 12 hits, ten singles and two doubles, had four hit-by-pitches, and struck out three times. The Shockers recorded four errors on the afternoon.

Julia Crenshaw was the star of the game, going a perfect 4-of-4 from the plate, all singles, batted in four runs, and stole a base.

Right-handed pitcher Lilly Whitten started in the circle for the Tigers and Laurin Krings came into the game in relief. The duo allowed six hits including two home runs, three runs, three walks, and two strikeouts.

In Game 2, the Tigers offense had a couple more big at-bats with three doubles, one home run, and nine singles on 13 hits. Nine batters recorded at least one hit including three recording multiple hits.

Cierra Harrison started in the circle for Missouri and went 4.1 innings. She allowed six hits, six earned runs, two walks, and three strikeouts. Taylor Pannell and Marissa McCann pitched out of the bullpen and allowed two walks and two strikeouts. Harrison was credited the win, putting her record at 5-0 on the season and McCann was credited the save.

Missouri will play Wichita State and Nebraska for a second time on Sunday in Day 2 of the invitational.
