Larrell Murchison started his college football career as a lightly regarded prospect at Louisburg Junior College. On January 25, the NC State defensive tackle will finish his career playing along side some of the highest-profile players in the sport at the Senior Bowl.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound native of Elizabethtown announced on his Twitter account Wednesday that he has accepted an invitation to play in the prestigious postseason all-star game in Mobile, Ala.

Murchison is the third State defensive lineman to play in the Senior Bowl in the past three years, joining B.J. Hill and Justin Jones in 2018 -- both of whom went on to become NFL draft picks later that year.

Murchison currently leads the Wolfpack and ranks second in the ACC with seven sacks. His 3.5 sacks against Florida State earlier this season were .5 shy of the school record. He also has 34 total tackles, 10 for losses.

The Senior Bowl will be played at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile with television coverage on NFL Network.

As important as the game itself is for the players involved, the week of practices leading up to it can be even more beneficial as an opportunity to showcase their skills for the multitude of NFL coaches, scouts and general managers that will be in attendance.
