Nebraska junior Max Anderson has been named the District 6 Player of the Year, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced Friday.

Anderson's 2023 stats included a .414 batting average with 20 doubles, two triples, 21 home runs and 70 RBIs. Those numbers helped earn him second-team All-America designation by Collegiate Baseball as well as unanimous first-team All-Big Ten honors.

Anderson became the nation's first player to reach 100 hits this season. The second baseman from Millard West High School in Omaha also became the first Husker since 2001 to finish the season batting .400 or better.

Anderson's 101 hits in 2023 amount to the sixth-highest single-season total in program history. His 188 total bases rank fourth, while his 21 home runs and 43 extra-base hits both rank fifth.
