Nebraska Gets a 'Prince' of a Commitment This Week
If you haven't been following Husker women's basketball lately, I guarantee that beginning next year, you will.
Husker head coach Amy Williams and the Nebraska basketball program just took a giant step forward with this week's signing of 5-11 point guard Britt Prince. Over the past three basketball seasons, Prince has helped her Elkhorn North Wolves win three consecutive Class B state championships. Remarkably, the Wolves' three titles have come in the school's first three years of existence.
To know just how good a player Britt Prince is, think of Merritt Beason and Harper Murray on Nebraska's #1 ranked volleyball team. Think of Husker softball pitcher Jordy Bahl. Think of former Husker baseball greats like Darin Erstad and Alex Gordon. Think of former Husker football greats like Tommie Frazier and Eric Crouch.
Yes, Britt Prince is that good. Is she another Caitlin Clark at Iowa? That might be putting too much pressure on a player who is just a senior in high school.
Don't be surprised at what Britt and the Huskers will accomplish during her playing career. How good is she? If you need a player to hit a game-winning shot. Call Britt. Need somebody to get a key steal? Call Britt. Need someone who can find the open shooter? Call Britt. Need a player to make a key three-pointer? Call Britt. Need someone to make a pressure free throw? Call Britt.
An added bonus will be Prince's ability to attract other great players to come to Nebraska.
Landing Prince is a grand slam, bases-loaded home run for the Nebraska women's basketball program.
I'll be writing more about Britt Prince in the future. For now, you can follow her senior season as the Wolves look to make it four straight Class B titles.
