Nebraska men's basketball's first loss of the 2023-24 campaign matched its worst loss in the rivalry with Creighton.

The No. 15 Bluejays routed the Huskers 89-60 Sunday afternoon. That 29-point difference matches the loss for NU at the hands of CU in 1932: 47-18. Nebraska has not beaten the Bluejays in back-to-back seasons since the 1990s.

The Huskers fall to 7-1 on the season and 27-30 against Creighton.

The Jays raced out to a 5-0 lead before Nebraska finally got on the board 2:49 into the game. A 10-2 Big Red run gave the Huskers a brief lead, but the lack of shot making and the scrambling defense would only last so long.

A Fancisco Farabelo 3 with 8:40 to go in the half erased what would be Nebraska's final lead of the game. Creighton closed the half form there on a 30-14 run. That 15-point lead would grow to as much as 31 before mercifully ending at 29.

Creighton shot 46.4 percent for the game, including 14-for-40 on 3s. Nebraska managed to shoot just 33.8 percent and make just 2-of-22 3s.

Keisei Tominaga led Nebraska in scoring with 20 points. No other Husker broke into double digits.

For the Bluejays, four players scored at least 13 points, led by Baylor Scheierman's 24 points. Scheierman made six 3s and grabbed 10 rebounds.

NU will try to bounce back as Big Ten Conference play begins Wednesday with the Huskers off to Minnesota.
