There was injury news Saturday as Nebraska football reached the end of its first week of preseason camp.

Offensive tackle Teddy Prochazka, who has battled knee injuries the last two seasons, is been "banged up" again but should be available for the Aug. 31 opener at Minnesota, head coach Matt Rhule said.

"Nothing long-term, but he's banged up, unfortunately," Rhule said after Saturday's practice, the sixth of fall camp. "We think he'll be ready for the first game."

The 6-foot-10, 325-pound Prochazka started the first three games of 2022 at left tackle before suffering a season-ending injury. Turner Corcoran moved over from left guard and started the final nine games at left tackle. As a true freshman in 2021, Prochazka played in five games and started two at left tackle before an injury in the Michigan game forced him to miss the final five games of the season.

Rhule had praise Saturday for the Huskers' safeties and Isaac Gifford in particular.

"I think the safeties are one of our strengths," Rhule said. "Isaac Gifford, he is an alpha back there right now. He had an amazing summer. ... He's a 35-inch vertical, 10.5 broad, 4.5 guy. He's a multi-year probably NFL player in terms of talent, and his mindset has come a long way in terms of taking control back there."
