‘Day by Day’
"Day by Day" is a documentary about the career of legendary University of Nebraska head football coach Tom Osborne. It will make its theatrical debut at seven Marcus Theatres in Lincoln, Omaha and Bellevue on August 11, with sneak previews at select locations on August 10.
“Day by Day” recalls Nebraska’s promotion of Osborne in 1973 to head coach, as the fabled program looked to recapture a coveted national championship following repeat titles in 1970 and 1971. Ultimately, it would take 21 years before the Huskers would reach the goal that the fans, the team, the state of Nebraska, and Coach Osborne lived and breathed.
Amid the triumph, a more significant struggle brewed off the field. Crippled by controversy and dropped to their knees with tragedy, the Nebraska Husker program defied all odds by winning three National Championships in four years, between 1994 and 1997.
Featuring interviews with some of the greatest players ever to wear a University of Nebraska uniform as well as coaching rivals Barry Switzer and Bobby Bowden, famous fans Peyton and Archie Manning and Larry the Cable Guy, and college football experts, “Day by Day” offers viewers a one-of-a-kind look at one of the most celebrated and most controversial teams in NCAA history.
Former Husker players Mark Brungardt and Josh Davis along with 50 former players, coaches and opponents tell the story of Coach Osborne’s remarkable success, partnering with premier Hollywood sports documentary filmmaker Justin LePera to present “Day by Day.” The film also features two of the most highly regarded names in sports documentaries, cinematographer Tim Gordon and editor Joe Mastromonaco.
