Frost Says Huskers’ ‘Confidence Is There’

Coach sees motivated team as home opener nears
In this story:

Scott Frost says his Huskers remain confident and motivated despite last weekend's loss to Northwestern and the resulting negativity from some fans and media pundits.

"All you can do is work as hard as you can and do the right things. I think our kids know that," Frost said after Thursday's Nebraska football practice. "I try to share that with the kids as much as they can. If they have a chip on their shoulder, I think that's a good thing for us."

He said players recovered quickly from the effects of the travel to and from Ireland and "approached the week well" in preparing for Saturday's home-opener opponent, North Dakota.

"I think the confidence is there. I think they know what kind of team they have. It's up to us to go out and prove it. I didn't see anything other than motivated kids trying to get better at practice."

Tight end Travis Vokolek "is getting close" but remains "day to day" after injuring an ankle against Northwestern. Wide receiver Omar Manning, who didn't suit up in Dublin, "had a good week of practice."
