In this story:

Mike Schaefer talks to Lincoln Journal Star columnist Amie Just. She explains how she ended up with her dream job after swearing she'd never move back to Lincoln.

As is always the case, we start at the beginning to find out why Amie got into sports journalism and then followed her path that ultimately led back to Lincoln.

Along the way we learn about how a middle school romance helped lead to her college decision, how she ended up becoming the first female Montana Grizzlies beat reporter and what she learned about the NFL while covering the New Orleans Saints.

Finally she walks through her first year at Nebraska before giving thoughts on being a woman in journalism and a few more stories to bring us home.

Mike Schaefer has spent years on the Husker beat. Now, he turns his mic away from players and coaches and toward his fellow media members, from those he’s worked alongside to those he’s competed against.
