How Well Do You Know Your Big Ten Athletic Directors?
After less than one week after the position became available, Nebraska has hired a new Athletics Director. Troy Dannen - formerly of Washington, Tulane, and Northern Iowa - has been announced as the new AD.
I don't have any opinions on Dannen. I'll freely admit that I had never heard his name until I saw the Pete Thamel tweet about the hire. I'm guessing I'm not alone in that.
That got me thinking: Athletic Director is an interesting job. At many schools (such as Nebraska), the AD is one of the most well-known figures in the state. Some ADs - such as those at schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, and Alabama - are known nationally by fans of college athletics. But most Athletic Directors are relatively unknown outside of their state.
Quick: how many of the Big 10 ADs can you name off the top of your head? Three? Four? What if I gave you a multiple-choice test? How many could you correctly identify?
I created a quick quiz to test your knowledge of current Big Ten athletic directors. I included the new west coast schools, with the obvious exception of Washington.
Follow this link to the quiz.
Your score:
0-5: Congrats! You are a perfectly normal fan, who (hopefully) knows their AD and a couple of others.
6-11: This is borderline sickos level of college athletics knowledge, but I respect your passion.
12-15: I assume you work in college athletics or a related field. Regardless, very impressive.
16 or more: If you didn't cheat, I want to be on your team for Trivia Night.
