For decades, Nebraska has been relying on homegrown quarterbacks.

Many of them have had successful careers for the Big Red. Assuming Husker '24 quarterback recruit Danny Kaelin starts at least one game for Nebraska, he will join a sizeable group of homegrown Husker QBs to do so.

Kaelin, who will be a senior at Bellevue West High this fall, grew up loving the Huskers and dreamed one day of playing for them.

That day will likely come sooner than later. Who are others on the list?

Let's take a look at some of them:

1) Eric Crouch, Omaha ('98-2001)
2) Bob Churchich, Omaha ('64-'66)
3) Scott Frost, Wood River ('96-'97)
4) Steve Runty, Ogallala ('72-'73)
5) Clete Blakeman, Norfolk ('85-'87)
6) Craig Sundberg, Lincoln ('82-'84)
7) Tim Hager, Lincoln ('78-'79)
8) Gerry Gdowski, Fremont ('87-'89)
9) Matt Turman, Wahoo ('94-'96)
10) Ron Kellogg III, Omaha (2012-'13)
11) Monte Christo, Kearney ('96-'97)
12) John Faiman, Omaha ('60-'62)
13) Pat Fischer, Omaha ('58-60)
14) Travis Turner, Scottsbluff ('84-'85)
15) Jeff Quinn, Ord ('78-'80)
16) Ryker Fyfe, Grand Island (2015-'16)
17) Noah Vedral, Wahoo (2019)

For purposes of this review, Husker QBs who played before the 1960s weren't included. Although he played in the latter '50s, Pat Fisher did play in 1960. BTW, a special thank you goes to HuskerMax's own Joe Hudson for his help on this column.

The question is, will Danny Kaelin win the Heisman or a national championship for the Huskers? No clue. But know one thing: anything is possible at Nebraska.

How ’Bout Them Huskers

Will and I talk about the lastest Husker football commits. We also discuss the passing of two former Husker greats: OG Bob Brown and RB Dahrran Diedrick. Remember, Fall Camp is just over a month away and the season opener is just over 60 days away. We can't wait!
