Nebraska junior wide receiver Trey Palmer was named Thursday to the 52-man preseason watch list for the Paul Hornung Award, which goes to college football's most versatile player.

Palmer transferred to Nebraska during the offseason after three years at LSU, where he played in 28 games and totaled 41 receptions for 458 yards and three touchdowns.

Palmer also was an effective return man for the Tigers, running back both a punt and kickoff for touchdowns. He had 23 punt returns for 188 yards and 15 kickoff returns for 394 yards.

A five-star recruit coming out of Kentwood High School in Louisiana, Palmer played as a true freshman on LSU's 2019 national championship team.

Palmer joins four other Huskers named this week to preseason watch lists: Linebacker Luke Reimer, Butkus Award; edge rusher Ochaun Mathis, Nagurski Trophy; punter Brian Buschini, Ray Guy Award; and offensive lineman Ethan Piper, Wuerrfel Trophy.
